Desiring greater cross-disciplinary collaboration between the Art and Journalism Departments, Ball State University commissioned this project to bring both schools under one roof for the first time.
The building’s design allocates specific space to each department while incorporating common areas for students and faculty to interact. The facility includes an art gallery, art studios, writing labs, faculty offices, photography labs, a dining area and a campus bookstore. A connector to the adjacent College of Communications fosters interaction between the art, journalism, and communications students and faculty.
Located in the heart of Ball State’s campus, the building’s exterior design incorporates red brick with glass and limestone curtain wall accents to reflect the surrounding architectural environment.
