Butler University, founded in 1855, occupies 20 buildings on a 290-acre urban campus on the near-north side of Indianapolis, Indiana. One of the University’s stated goals is to become a more residential campus, on which both academic and non-academic aspects of student life receive important attention. A key part of that goal is a commitment to enhance student life on campus by providing key amenities to students and staff.
RATIO designed the 85,000 sq. ft. Health & Recreation Complex as a place for students to meet, play and exercise. The facility includes a two-court gymnasium, indoor jogging track, six-lane lap / leisure pool, weight training / fitness room, health and counseling services, student lounge and juice bar. The building’s central location next to Hinkle Fieldhouse allows for easy access by students and faculty.
