In order to better serve a growing student body in a professional, efficient manner, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis selected RATIO to design a modern, sustainable academic and office building that complements the character of other buildings on its unique urban campus in downtown Indianapolis.
The LEED-Gold University Hall provides approximately 100,000 sq. ft. of IUPUI Administrative office space, including offices of the Chancellor, President, and the Indiana University Foundation, as well as space for the School of Social Work and the School of Philanthropy. An overhead walkway connects the building to the adjacent School of Education and Social Work.
Occupying a prominent corner on campus, the building complements the character of its surroundings using a combination of architectural pre-cast concrete (finished to match the ubiquitous IUPUI limestone), metal panel, and glass.
IUPUI employed a unique project delivery method for the project, using a private real estate developer to finance and construct the project and then deliver it to university ownership.
