The University of Oregon, seeking to invest in its nationally-recognized athletic programs and also gain flexible space for special events and fan-focused gameday amenities, commissioned RATIO to design a multipurpose, multi-sport athletic training facility.
The Moshofsky Center provides indoor training space for the University’s football, soccer, softball, baseball, track and golf teams, with a regulation-size turf football field, ten-yard sidelines and a four lane running track. Auxiliary spaces include a training room, conference rooms, food service support and concessions for gameday activities, and the “Duck Shop” athletic apparel store. The facility can accommodate up to 6,000 people during social events.
The facility, located next to the University’s training center and football stadium, reflects the style of these structures and portrays the image of the traditional fieldhouse. Clerestory windows in the roof and sidewalls provide ample natural lighting.
