National football powerhouse the University of South Carolina selected RATIO to design a new Indoor Practice Facility near storied Williams-Brice Stadium.
The state-of-the-art facility, intended to aid in player development and improve football program logistics, will allow the University to continue to vie for new talent in the highly competitive SEC Conference.
The facility includes a 100-yard practice field with two endzones, a training room, managers’ office, observation platforms at both ends and at the mid-point of the field, and a catwalk along one side of the facility connecting the observation platforms. The interior height of 75 feet allows for indoor kickoffs and true-to-life gameplay.
Located as the terminus to Garnet Way from William-Brice Stadium, the facility encloses the east side of two new outdoor practice fields. The facility, designed to fit within the surrounding context of the USC campus, makes use of the University brick primarily on the classically designed east end of the building. Above, translucent wall panels provide natural light and an exciting, contemporary look.
