Seeking greater efficiency and the synergistic effects of locating under one roof, the Indiana State Department of Health, the Indiana University Division of Toxicology and the Indiana State Police Forensics Laboratory joined together to update their workload capacities and capabilities with a new facility.
The Forensic & Health Sciences Laboratory brings these related entities together within a state-of-the-art laboratory facility, designed to resemble a portion of DNA in its massing. This strategic design is not only symbolic - laboratories are intentionally distributed throughout the complex in order to isolate them in case of accidental contamination.
Strategically located within the 16 Tech life sciences & technology district in downtown Indianapolis, the Laboratory integrates seamlessly into the surrounding urban context. The arrangement not only allows for exceptional natural day lighting and views toward downtown, but also screens the parking from the street.
